These slips (cuttings) are from the fastest growing trees we've ever seen. Our record was 14 feet (4.2 meters)' of growth in one year! (Other seasons they haven't done so well - but still 10' to 12' would not be unusual at all.)
Yes, we live in a warm and wet part of the world and we can't promise they'll do the same where you live - but, hey, who knows, they could do even better!
The timber isn't great for anything except firewood (and matches, apparently) but that's ok - we all need firewood. But the best thing is they are lovely trees with enormous leaves. Here they are helping to repair the damage wrought by over-grazing and de-forestation over hundreds of years. (We have planted hundreds of them, alongside many other species.) They bring up minerals with their roots through the summer, and then litter the ground with nutrient-rich leaves in the autumn - the way soil is made all round the world..
We're sending them out in packs of six slips, each approximately 40cm (16") long. They should be planted within a few days of receipt, pushed into the soil 10cm (4"), at least. Keep the weeds down around them for the first year (mulch them, maybe) and never let them dry out (but don't water-log them either!). Don't expect them to grow more than 2 or 3 feet in the first season. If all goes well they should take off in year two or three.
We used to give these away and only asked for the postage - but unfortunately only one person paid us last year so we were seriously out of pocket. Now we're charging lots in the hope that anyone who does buy them will appreciate and care for them properly.
